Randeep Hooda’s affection for horses is no secret. He owns many horses at his Gurgaon farmhouse where he has also set up polo club for racing horses. Last we heard he adopted nine former racehorses who were abandoned.

Born of Web asked him about horse Shaktiman, a Dehradun horse who’s been badly injured in a ruckus which even caused arrest of a BJP MLA. Hooda said he isn’t sure how the horse got injured as he hasn’t been following the case but lamented how animals are dragged in human and political tussles. “I’m not sure how the horse got injured. I have not been following this case. But the fact that horse got injured makes me sad. My dear friend (doctor) has amputated his leg. He also takes care of my horses. The horse is in very good hands. Horse is an animal of freight. I don’t know if amputation or prosthetic limb is going to give him a comfortable life,” he said.

The brutal attack on Shaktiman, a 14-year-old police horse, after which he was captured dragging his crushed, bloodied hind leg, drew strong emotional reactions across the nation. Hashtag #PrayForShaktiman was trending Twitter for several hours after the news of his amputation surgery came out.

Randeep Hooda was the stellar at the third day of Amazon India Fashion Week. He walked the ramp for designer Rohit Kamraa amid whistles and applause.
