Indian couturier Charu Parashar is all set to go global with her next fashion outing. She is invited to do a fashion show in Paris as part of a charity polo cup, jointly organised by Indian NGO ‘Nobility for Ability’ and France-based Chantilly Polo Club. The inaugural event of the Polo Cup took place in Jaipur last year where Rohit Bal also showcased a couture show.

The designer, who’s excited to write her global story, says, “Personally, I wanted to be associated with the cause that this event is all about. Fashion is a global language understood by all. We are sure we will be able to raise awareness through this initiative.” This year, “Nobility for Ability Charity Polo Cup”  will support the “Princess Diya Kumari Foundation” (PDKF), involved in women’s empowerment and the girl child, and NGO “ODE”, which is working to help children with learning disabilities.

When it comes to Paris, there are only a couple of designers ~ Manish Arora and Ritu Beri ~ who have successfully created a legacy. Now, designer Rahul Mishra too is making all the right moves in the French capital. Naturally, Parashar is on a high. “It’s a big opportunity for me. I decided to present Indian heritage through my collection. We will promote creations woven in khadi silk, which is a labour of love from our craftsmen,” she says.

Parashar believes that Khadi is emerging in a big way, thanks to the latest initiatives of the government. “I want to give full credit to PM Narendra Modi to put khadi back in the spotlight. We don’t have many weavers left for khadi work. I hope to contribute to bring about a change,” she says.  The designer has created 22 pieces for the show, to be modelled by French models, dignitaries and female polo players of the Chantilly Polo Club.

What’s Nobility for Ability Polo Cup?
“Nobility for Ability” is born from the personal experience of founder Piya Bajwa, a cancer survivor herself. She was empowered by her strong will, and the help of many to face the tribulations and come out a more resilient individual. She says it’s her turn to return some of that grace that life also had in store. Bajwa shared that the event in France will support the “Princess Diya Kumari Foundation” (PDKF), involved in women’s empowerment and the girl child, and “ODE”, helping children with learning disabilities.
