soft diplomacy

A special flight will carry delegation of over 100 cultural artistes to India to participate in an initiative, Shaan-e-Pakistan, supported by Pakistan High Commission in India

🙂 India and Pakistan may have refused to engage at the highest level for now, but the cultural communities at either side of the border continue to support soft diplomacy through people-to-people connect. Next week, eminent cultural personalities from both the countries will put an extravaganza entitled Shaan-e-Pakistan.

🙂 A special flight from Pakistan will carry delegation of close to 120 cultural icons including acclaimed qawwal Amjad Farid Sabri and his troupe, renowned chefs Zakir and Gulzar, many TV actors (now seen on Zindagi channel), fashion designers like Umar Sayeed, Sahar Atif and Huma Nassr. Their experiences in India will be captured in a documentary to be broadcast on Pakistan’s HUM TV.

🙂 Speaking about the initiative, Huma Nassr, says, “I love to introduce Pakistan culture in India and I take so much back from India to my home country. I feel so happy and safe in India, it is like my second home! With this initiative, I want people to experience the same and I am very glad that Pakistan diplomats have been very supportive of the platform. I wish the people of both countries to share their individualities and improve their relationships by showcasing their craft, talent and ideas on one unified platform. This venture is not just limited to the showcase of luxury fashion but goes beyond into creating an experience of collaborative exquisite culinary delicacies and music as well.”

🙂 Pakistan’s popular designer Sahar Atif is quite excited about the whole event as she shares, “The Indian markets love for Pakistani clothing results in my returning to India every year around the festive season. Diwali is integrated into our brand’s annual calendar just like Eid! In so many ways I feel we celebrate both occasions because of the efforts and individual collections that are made for both events and target customers.”

We are game for this soft diplomacy!
