Shivan & Narresh, Shyamal & Bhumika and Nikhil Thampi spoke about their brands’ road map at the preview of Indian Couture Experience 2017
The preview showcase of the Indian Couture Experience 2017 in the Capital was high on fashion quotient with the presence of participating designers from three labels ~ Shivan & Narresh, Shyamal & Bhumika and Nikhil Thampi. They are among other 25 fashion labels that will be showcasing their collections in Melbourne, New York and Hong Kong as a part of the Indian Couture Experience. We got to chat with all designers who described their vision for their brands.
Shivan & Narresh
The brand, famous for its luxury swimwear, has extended itself to other lifestyle segments. How does the brand keep its DNA intact? In all their collections including Indian wear for the destination bride, the prime focus is on functional clothing, says Narresh. The material is water resistant and would not crush or crease, the sarees have pockets, and are easy to travel with. “All of these aspects make sure that across the categories on board, the DNA of the brand is alive,” he says. Presenting his latest collection Sylph at the Indian Couture Experience, Nikhil Thampi’s brand, an evening wear range, is about a fusion of apparels, where ‘India meets West’. A dynamic and spirited designer, he reinvents classic silhouettes and fuse it with modern, to produce a collection that is à la mode. Watch Nikhil Thampi talking about his brand below:
Shyamal and Bhumika
Their spring collection is a vividly vibrant one, that draws inspiration from the season. Shyamal and Bhumika work extensively with Indian crafts, and their mission is to take India to the world fashion map. A great partnership at work, how do they enhance their creativity? Shyamal tell us, ”Our creativity comes from the dialogue between the two of us, and that’s what makes it unique and interesting.” Bumika chips in saying, “Its been a beautiful journey so far.” Know more about their work in the video below:
