A still from ‘Naked’

Naked, a short film starring Kalki Koechlin and Ritabhari Chakraborty, is a must watch this International Women’s Day. Conceptually strong with an equally splendid dialogue delivery, this film raises serious questions of privacy, and its invasion on social media. Kalki (Sandy) plays a famous actress along while Ritabhari (Ria), a journalist in the movie, is excited to interview her. Kalki Koechlin’s character envisages a ‘fun and fearless’ disposition. A recently leaked sex video of hers, leads to a rather awkward interaction between the two in the film. Belonging to two different backgrounds, the women strike a common ground of being affected by a society that instills in them what to do, and what not, by the virtue of being a woman.

Directed by Rakesh Kumar, the film goes with the tagline,  “We are all naked on the bare stage of social media.” The film concludes with a very relevant message, urging women to speak against any breach of privacy and to hit ‘report’.
