Kristen Stewart will play Coco Chanel in a short film. The movie will be directed by Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of the iconic fashion label. Later, the movie will be premiered at the Metiers d’Arts show in Rome in December. Stewart will portray an actress impersonating the designer as a young woman. The actress impressed Lagerfeld in an audition.
Stewart has been appearing in Chanel’s campaigns and said to be the latest muse of Karl Lagerfeld. He said that Kristen played the role ‘really, really mean’. “You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer,” he told WWD.
Kristen Stewart has been regular at Chanel’s shows. Besides shooting her few of the last feature films in France, she also became the first American actor to win a Cesar (France’s answer to Oscar) for her role in Olivier Assayas’ Sils Maria. According to Variety, the Twilight star will also feature in Assayas’ next project. The English movie is said to be Paris-based ghost story in the fashion underworld.
