Kalki Koechlin has stood out in Bollywood for her unconventional choices and has also been a fierce voice against gender inequality. Her videos and poems have gone viral time and again on violence against women. For that reason, she has always got support and appreciation of not only her fans but also masses. Now, there’s one more name in the long list of her well-wishers.

Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has lauded Kalki’s video The Printing Machine. Gates and Koechlin, both had participated in a show The Townhall a month ago, where the actress left an impression with her video and opinions on gender inequality.

Today, Gates sent a message to the actress over the mail. Below is the text of the email:

Dear Ms Koechlin:
I appreciate your taking time to join me in a discussion on empowering women and girls in India. Your video poem, “The Printing Machine”, was both powerful and thought-provoking.
Thank you for bringing attention to violence and discrimination against women. Your voice helps bring much needed attention and support to these issues — and I am grateful for your efforts.
It was a pleasure meeting you during my visit.
Sincerely,
Melinda Gates.
