Film-maker Mozez Singh and entrepreneur Daljit Sean Singh turn showstoppers for dear friend and ace designer Malini Ramani as she launches her first ever menswear at AIFW SS’17
Almost everybody gets amused and curious at the same time as two rather unfamiliar faces stop the show for Malini Ramani on day three of the five-day gala. The amusement reaches a notch higher as we discover that one of the two dapper men is none other than Zubaan‘s (released early this year) director Mozez Singh, and the other, Daljit Sean Singh, who runs a Delhi-based event company. “These two are very special to me. They’re like my brothers and I’m very glad they launched my first ever menswear collection today,” says Malini after the show.
“This (walking at a fashion show) is something that is unusual for us. We come from different backgrounds. But when Malini asked us to do this for her, we couldn’t say no,” says Mozez. However, as another interesting fact, this isn’t the first time Mozez walked the ramp. Infact, he walked the ramp for Rohit Bal in the first ever India Fashion Week, some sixteen years ago! After Zubaan, the filmmaker is busy writing two scripts; one a domestic thriller, and the other a musical rom-com.
Ramani’s collection this spring-summer embraces her love for black and whites and vouches to be ultra comfortable. It is something ‘to flow with’. As a matter of fact, her pret wear comprises of various separates that can be mixed and matched. The show specifically resonated with Kundalini music and certain Sikh motifs that the designer has worked around. And the two men being Sikhs themselves took pride in being a part of the show.
