Manish Arora redefines everything Indian, presents brides with skull bags and backpacks. By Sanjeev Kumar
Nobody has presented India at international fashion circuits like Manish Arora. For that matter, he is aptly dubbed as the global fashion ambassador of India. Last weekend, he returned to set the runway ablaze with his latest collection Indian, which was showcased at his favourite venue, the French embassy in the national capital.
Through Indian, Manish customised garments for brides who are fearless to experiment not just in clothes by their entire getup.
The crème de la crème of Delhi was impressed by his coming of age designs. There was plenty of bling and mica mirror work. Silk, organza and even denim formed embellished trousseau comprising long skirts, lehenga cholis teamed with coats.
However, as usual, accessories came out pretty loud, bringing the Manish Arora drama to the ramp. The Swarovski-studded skull bags were the head-turner. Shimmery backpacks also looked cool and edgy. Headgears completed the look with fluorescent shine.
Given pollution levels in the city, how could the designer not have thought of masks for his bride? “Why not wear some cool designer masks?” asked the designer post the show. The clothes have been inspired by the designer’s travelogue. “I have been to several places and decided to bring their stories on the ramp,” he said.
