WHAT: India’s famed designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee collaborated with French footwear maestro Christian Louboutin to present his collection Bater at the opening day of the Amazon India Couture Week 2015.

HIGHLIGHT: The red soles of Christian Louboutin were not the only key factor on the ramp. The couture line was laced with intricate embroideries. There were zardozi, badla and fine resham embroidery on the gowns, saris,  jackets, short dresses and long maxi dresses. We were really impressed by the silhouettes. Male models sashayed down the ramp in capes, bandhgalas, sherwanis and Nehru jackets.

OUR TAKE: Sabyasachi Mukherjee was better this time than the last couture outing in Delhi. His silhouettes, cuts and detailing, bespoke his impeccable sartorial skills. The drapes were classy and sexy. The signature style was preserved with experiments at many layers. We fell in love with dark and gothic tones. Models look ultra feminine and those saris and jackets so well accentuated their bodies. Men’s collection was damn suave.

DESIGNER SPEAK: “I wanted to do a collection inspired by hunting birds. But the clothes had heavy and intricate work of embroideries. It’s a hand-spun collection, every inch has been hand embroidered. Even the simplest dress has taken minimum of 365 hours of human labour,” Sabyasachi Mukherjee said.

BACKGROUND: The collaboration between the two masters materialised when Christian Louboutin was shopping at Sabyasachi’s Kala Ghoda store. The two struck a conversation which resulted into this glamorous show!

JUST HEARD: Vogue.in has written, “The beauty look for the evening was glossy hair pulled back in a bun and dark wine lips. The model wore distinctly hazel lenses and feathered voluminous eyelashes. The combination of which resulted in a rather unsettling, staring match catch-up with models backstage.”
