Branded clothes get dearer

Jewellery
Priyanka Chopra may have donned jewellery worth $8 million at the Oscars but for the common man in India, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely has made jewellery a tougher reality. A 1% excise duty has been levied on gold and diamond jewellery. Ouch!

Branded Clothes
This is heartbreaking but true. Your favourite brands will charge you more for their clothes! The Budget 2016 has raised the excise duty on readymade garments with retail price of Rs 1000 or more to 2% without input tax credit or 12.5% with input tax credit. 🙁

Cars
You will have to shell out more to buy cars. The budget has got a one per cent additional tax on cars costing above Rs 10 lakh. One per cent infra cess has been levied on small cars too while a 2.5 per cent infra cess will be imposed on diesel cars. The minister has also posed a 4 per cent levy on high-capacity passenger vehicles and SUVs.

Cigarette
Excise duty on tobacco (except bidis) has been hiked by by 10-15 per cent. So? A pack of cigarette may cost you at least Rs 20 more!

Eating Out/Entertainment
As service tax moves up, eating out and watching movies in theatres or attending concerts and comedy shows will cost you more.

Phone Bills
Better watch duration of your conversation as talking over the phones get dearer.

Aerated drinks
Soft drinks Coke, Pepsi and mineral water is costlier by 3%

High fly
