Rita Moreno strikes gold in her legendary Oscars dress
While Hollywood and Bollywood stars show off their latest, sourced dresses from the biggest brands or fashion houses at the red carpet, legendary actress Rita Moreno stunned fashion police at the Oscars by repeating her dress that she wore more than fifty years ago! Since the Oscars broadcast earlier today, she has been showered with several compliments on the Internet. Moreno wore the dress at the Oscars in 1962 and received the award for ‘best supporting actress’ for her character of Anita in West Side Story.
In 2018, she presented the Oscar in the same dress for best foreign language film to Chilean entry, A Fantastic Woman. The 86-year-old actress recalled how she came to the 1962 Oscars “never dreaming I would win” as she was competing with Judy Garland. “It is as historic as the event (Oscars) tonight. This dress was sitting in my closet for decades. We had to tweak it out a little bit,” she told Variety.
