Fashion is being used prominently to bring about social change. Rekha Mohan recently hosted a glamorous evening and combined fashion with charity. She roped in Delhi’s prominent socialites to sashay down the ramp in Lucknavi Libaas, a collection inspired by the intricate work of Chikankari, the famous embroidery from the old lanes of Lucknow.
“Before you check horoscopes, you must check your blood. Before you get married, better check your blood. If both parents have thalassemia, they are bound to produce a thalassemic child. There are is great need to create awareness about thalassemia. I have got 12 children in my school who have got this disease. This is my small effort to create buzz about the disease,” said Rekha Mohan post the show. Proceedings from the show will be donated to Sangini, an NGO working to raise awareness towards thalassemia.
