Designer Anupama Dayal dedicated her line, Manjula, to her ailing mother, who’s suffering from Parkinson’s disease. She named almost all her dresses inspired by the likes and dislikes of her mother. Sindoor, Sangeet, Durga, Diya, Panna, Samudra and Kanchenjunga were some of the dresses. She worked on stripes, a welcome change from her pet florals. “My mother has played intrumental role in my life and career. I am highly inspired by her. It was shocking when we came to know about her disease. I was devastated. I got back to fashion which I think could console both of us. Naturally, I wanted to design a collection while she is still around. I used to ask her about the colours and prints if she liked them or not,” she said.

Interestingly, she made accessories an integral part of the garments. Her jewelleries, made from paper and recycled stuff, were an extension of her clothes.  “Nowadays, accessories are dissolving into your clothes. The textile tassels were just a part of saris and kaftans,” she said.
