How good are your chances at winning the lottery? Dismal. Only 1 in 13,983,816 people is expected to hit jackpot. What is the probability of becoming movie star? Disappointing. One in 5,05,000 becomes an actor. But what are your chances of developing breast cancer? Alarmingly high. One in 30 women in urban India is affected by this disease, which has now become an epidemic.
A new short movie Fight The Odds by Rolling Films highlights the menace of breast cancer in an intriguing manner by presenting shocking figures. The film is directed by Zoya Parvin and Tarun Cotra, who have had personal experiences with different kinds of cancer.
Breast Cancer is a type of cancer that is highly treatable and curable, if treated early. However, most of the cases in India are diagnosed at advanced stages.

“The reason we chose to make this film is not simply to make people ‘aware’ of the disease but to make people aware of the fact that this can happen to them. Many people hear of cancer stories, never believing it could actually happen to them. We live in this state of denial, where statistics are just statistics and they will not permeate into our normal lives. However, having gone through this with loved ones being affected, we decided it was time to do something. Especially with a disease that is curable and can be treated effectively, if caught early,” said Zoya Parvin.
