We picked up highlights from the interview which describe her responses to all the issues raised in media for quite sometime.

SUCCESS IS A TOOL

Success is the best revenge. I always feel women should answer either with sarcasm or success. I’m extremely happy that I got silver lining here (National Award) amid all this (issue).

I’M A SERIAL OFFENDER

We have all have got (fighting) spirit in us. I don’t deliberately offend people but end up being a serial offender. I look at myself, try and reconsider my ideologies and way of offending people. I believe in self-policing.

YOUR EXPECTATIONS ARE NOT MY BUSINESS

I care about my own priority, my own life more than others’ expectations of me. I don’t mind being a fighter as I get to live my life on my terms.

CHARACTER ASSASSINATION IS ALARMING

I don’t want to subject people to my opinion, specially people from my past. Being a leading lady of Indian cinema today, and three times National Film awardee, the recent times have been alarming to me. Though I have been raised in sexist atmosphere, it was unsettling for me to deal with such malicious environment today. I wonder what happen to women in interiors of this country.

I DIDN’T MIX BLOOD IN DRINK

There’s nothing mysterious about women’s body fluids. There’s nothing grouse about menstrual blood. It is not edible. It doesn’t have to be mixed in your drinks.

SUCCESSFUL WOMEN ARE CALLED PSYCHOPATH

As far as name calling is concerned, we have been proving ourselves for an age. If she is successful, she is a psychopath. If she is sexually active, she is a whore. It doesn’t upset me.

WHAT’S WRONG IN BEING A BIPOLAR?

Bipolar or schizophrenic, a section of media is trying to prove me as mentally sick. It doesn’t disturb me. I have played different characters on screen like bipolar and prostitutes on screen. We have no right to judge others. Why do we have to do it? Bitch, characterless, mentally sick or whore, I take these titles as a badge of honour. Let’s not humiliate people who are trying to get out of helpless habits, or drug addiction. We don’t have disassociate ourselves from a section of people.

I LOVE DEMONS, HARRY POTTER

I’m smitten by fairies, demons and gods. It doesn’t scare me. How would we have written Harry Potter if we were scared of mysticism and fairies?

I DIDN’T ABUSE ANYBODY PHYSICALLY

As far as physical attack is concerned, I stated one incident where I held my stilettos in defence. Other than that, I have never raised my hands to attack anybody.

YES, I AM FRAGILE. SO?

I am proud of my fragile mind, body.

I DIDN’T MEAN TO OFFEND

I wish I would not have offended so many people. I’m happy right now but there are too many emotions flying around me. Everybody is offended with me. I don’t know what to do.

MY JOURNEY IS FROM MANALI TO RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN

I have always followed my instinct. It’s been a roller coaster ride. My journey is not from Bandra to Juhu. It’s from remote village of Manali to Rashtrapati Bhavan. This is an extraordinary journey. Sometimes you have bad days, but then you have cupcakes

HEROINES ARE EXPECTED TO BE A PRETTY ASS

We live in a male chauvinist society. Industry is no different. It is sexist. Women are expected to be glam dolls and bimbettes or a pretty piece of asses. We are pretending to be that for a long time. Women are objectified everywhere. I feel right now is the time when people are opening up. Every attempt is being made to embarass me. But I am not embarrassed.

Let’s raise a toast to witches..!!
