Ace designer Tarun Tahiliani has designed a limited line of rugs in a collaboration with Obeetee. The designer took more than 3 years to craft over 100 pieces. At a launch event at Delhi’s Bikaner House, the designer shared that the designs have been divided into three themes. “One of the themes belongs to one of my couture collection that I did two years ago. It’s called Broken Frames and has got ethos of Mughal miniatures,” he says. There are references from Akbarnama, Babarnama and Baadshanama. The other line is inspired by Tarun’s own paintings that he has done over the years. The third story stokes Indianness by focussing on the chikankari work, which is an integral part of Tarun’s design aesthetics. In this video with Born of Web’s Karan Bhardwaj, the designer takes us through the making of this amazing collection, which is no less than an antique work.
