You may recall Manasvi Mamgai as a femme fatale in Ajay Devgn starrer Action Jackson. But she is also a trained belly dancer and a Bharatnatyam performer. Her true passion and key to staying fit is her dedicated daily practice of yoga. She shares her thoughts on fitness and yoga 😀
🙂 I work in an industry which has no routine and this in the end puts a lot of stress over the body and mind. With such erratic timings and schedules, even maintaining a healthy diet becomes difficult. This is where yoga helps me the most. Yoga is a science which is all about balance. If practised daily, it automatically tunes your body to reject the things which threaten to change this equilibrium. The breathing exercises that we perform, actually teaches us how to circulate oxygen correctly in our system. Due to our sedentary lifestyle our organs do not get the correct flow of blood and this causes a lot of health issues.
🙂 A lot of people think that yoga is only about physical movements and that it helps shape your body. But in reality, the asanas or poses are only a small part of it. The goal of yoga is to join the body, mind, and spirit, and achieve enlightened awareness — not just to sculpt a great body.
🙂 In yoga, you are expected to be aware of every movement you make. We must not listen to music or engage in any distractions. We have to be conscious of how our body fucntions when we make each and every move. Like when we are doing the Extended Triangle Pose or Trikonasana, we have to observe and see where do we feel our muscles stretching, if we can feel the air travelling to those muscles and be still. This with slow practice creates complete awareness and discipline. This physical awareness overtime converts to mental awareness where one has to think before they react. It brings a calmness and peace over you.
🙂 Although maintaining a clean diet is difficult with my schedule, with the discipline I have learned through yoga, I automatically choose the right things to eat. Like even while shooting, I have fruits and fresh salads available if I get hungry. When at home, I see to it that I have things that are mostly made at home. I love having lots of fruits, vegetable juices and fresh simple cooked meals.
