“There are going to be people who will try to undercut your success…”
–TAYLOR SWIFT
What: Pop star Taylor Swift has become the first woman to win Album of the Year trophy twice at the Grammy Awards. In her acceptance speech, she retaliated to Kanye West’s lyrics from his track Life of Pablo where he took credit for Taylor’s success.
Quote: “I want to say to all the young women out there… there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you … you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world,” Taylor Swift roared from the stage.

Background: The lyrics of Kanye West’s song Life of Pablo refers to the VMAs in 2009 when West infamously interrupted Taylor’s acceptance speech saying Beyonce deserved that award, instead her. “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex… Why? I made that bitch famous.” the lyrics read.
