ON BEING A RESPONSIBLE LADY
Firstly, I’ve always been responsible in my life. I never take things for granted. That’s how I have been grown up by my parents. It doesn’t need an award to remind me of my responsibilities. Secondly, it’s an honour to be acknowledged by your country for your work. It’s special to me because I’m daughter of a Defence army officer. Nonetheless, my whole family was here with me. My father would have been the happiest person if he was alive. I missed him and cried a lot today.
TAKING A DAY OFF FROM HOLLYWOOD
I have come for a day. We have pushed Quantico’s shooting for two days. I’m grateful to the whole crew of the show as they will have to work on Saturdays just because of me. They all are happy to do so. First, they didn’t know about Padma awards. So I had to explain them about this recognition and its importance. I told them it’s a prestigious title by the government like they have in their country. Then, they got excited and worked for 24 hours so that I could get a 4-day off for this trip. I am shooting Quantico’s finale followed by Baywatch’s last leg.

I have turned Hollywood into Bollywood. I turn up late by 15 minutes on sets. Now, everyone knows she is going to arrive late. I have always lived life on my own terms. I have always gone out there and been who I am. I don’t believe in changing myself.

I’M NOT INTIMIDATED
As I have been trained in the biggest film industry in the world, I don’t feel intimidated anywhere in front of the camera. I have worked with amazing film-makers in Bollywood who have taught me the art of acting. So you place me in front of any actor or director, I would be able to pull off my work confidently. I don’t find difference in Bollywood or Hollywood.

I miss doing Hindi songs. I am trying to get some dance track in English films also.

ME TIME
Honestly, I need at least one and a half hour for myself before I retire to bed. But mostly I get so tired of work that I doze off. I am totally engrossed in my work. I don’t have ability to make excuses.
WEST DOESN’T KNOW INDIA
I don’t think the world knows Indians very well. They are driven by stereotypes largely. It’s because of lack of education. They think India is only about meditation, yoga and spirituality. But it’s not true. We have different avenues where we excel. I’m having good time with people discovering who I am and my work there. I tell them about my films. A lot of them have seen my Hindi films on Netflix. So it’s a great cultural exchange happening over there. I tell them about diversity of India. We’re a mini-world.
HINDI FILMS ARE MY FIRST LOVE
My commitment with Quantico is for six months in a year. So I have got other half of the year for movies. I have done Baywatch this year. After that, I will have time for Hindi movies as well. Hindi films are my first love. Who forgets first love? I will keep doing Hindi cinema as long as people want to watch me.
WORLDS ARE COLLIDING FOR BUSINESS
Entertainment business is not restricted to one territory. Like Indians films are earning big abroad, Hollywood too is eyeing on India for business opportunities. Entertainment is on your phone today. So everybody is interested in breaking regional boundaries. Quantico has gone in 120 territories and dubbed in 44 languages. It was a lucrative business. It’s a great time to collide. Indian talents need to be seen abroad.
NO MORE TELEVISION
I cannot do television anymore. It’s very tough. I am still deciding on my next Hindi movie. Baywatch is the only release for this year.
