Food is a science, entertainment and drama now. By Karan Bhardwaj
The year of 2015 is ending really on a foodie note! The new exciting entrants in the market are striving hard to offer unique experiences to food lovers. Recently, we checked out three eateries which really impressed us. They have great ambience, sumptuous delicacies and super fun interiors. We recommend you visit any of these during your Christmas outings.
FLYP@MTV
This is the hottest debut at the Connaught Place. From food, interiors to concept, everything is so cool here. And guess what, this is the first MTV-themed cafe in the whole world! You lucky Delhi! The cafe has just taken the city by storm with the craziest party that took place recently and featured Sunny Leone, Neha Dhupia, Rannvijay Singha, Gautam Gulati, Karan Kundra, Anusha Dandekar to name a few. There are multiple reasons to hang out at this place.
🙂 First, we liked the classic plot of MTV Bakra here. At the cafe, you can sign up for your buddy and play bakra prank on him and get the embarrassing experience recorded too with hidden mics and cameras.
🙂 The menu has been crafted by popular chef Ranveer Singh who is inspired by culinary traditions across continents. He has given international twist to desi platter. Like you get Chicken Tikka in Japanese style or Dhoklas and Chaats. Don’t miss Gulab Jamun Cheesecake! So there’s a lot of interplay of flavours.
DON’T MISS: This famous couple declared relationship at FLY@MTV party!
🙂 The idea of combining music and ethos of MTV is so cool. There’s a visual gallery where one can delve into MTV’s archives. There’s also something called ‘Talent Record Room’ where boys and girls can just record their tracks! Cool?
🙂 There will be special gigs happening all the time and who knows you bump into your favourite MTV stars. On that note, they are celebrating Christmas eve with DJ NYK.

Entertainment has become a great source of inspiration for food. Some time back, we really enjoyed our date with Garam Dharam, a restaurant cum theka dedicated to legendary actor Dharmendra. Last week, we had a gala time at yet another eatery inspired by Bollywood called Filmy Cafe & Bar. Seriously, Connaught Place is totally drowned in entertainment.🙂 Filmy Cafe & Bar is decorated with movie posters all around and the space gets you Bollywood fever instantly. What works well in its favour is the perfect location. It shares space with PVR Plaza.
🙂 Spread over 1500 sq ft, the walls have been embedded with famous Bollywood and Hollywood movie posters with quirky dialogues and props like Aamir Khans’s PK radio, war helmet from 300 et al. Even the chairs and cushions have got impressive filmy prints.
🙂 “I’m a movie buff and have been regular to PVR Plaza. Whenever I would my school, I would come here to watch movies. So this location is really close to my heart. The concept amalgamates here perfectly because it is totally filmy. You enter the movie hall’s building first and then come into this café. Whether or not you have watched movie, we give you unique experience. There are dialogues in music in the background. This is like people’s own café,” said Thakur Bhuvan Singh, co-owner Filmy Café & Bar, who’s also done interiors of the place.

Ladies, you have got all the right to get catty here. Dedicated to the modern divas, this new boutique cum bar has been conceptualised by fashion designer Nida Mahmood. The designer has handpicked vintage elements in décor like cameras, typewriters, binoculars, vintage fans, lamps, table fans and women vanity items like combs, hand-embroidered velvet pouches, hand mirrors and many other knick knacks collected over a period of time from across the country.

🙂 In case you are a Swarovski fan, there is a lot to shop in sparkling jewellery. Then moving on from an exclusive range of Onyx Mosaic Stone by Dlux Decor that is the integral part of the restaurant to the especially designed wallpapers and furniture by Nida to the elegant cutlery of Schott Zweisel Glassware (Germany), Robert Welch Cutlery and Tata Ceramics Crockery. All of these elements are for sale.
🙂 Nida is a fan of classic Bollywood. So rare photographs of the divas from the golden era of Hindi films are expected to adorn walls too. Coming back to food, the amazing cocktails and dishes have been crafted by chef Sabyasachi Gorai. There’s everything from gullies and cafes of Bombay (iconic chaats, street food to exotic Italian) to cherish your taste bud.
