CHANDRANI SIINGH FLLORA makes a comeback after three years, offers her tribute to Lord Shiva through her collection Mrityunjay. By KARAN BHARDWAJ
It’s been three years since Chandrani Siingh Fllora held her last runway show at FDCI’s Amazon India Fashion Week. Now she is back with a bang with her collection Mrityunjay, a tribute to power and strength of lord Shiva. “I was away for three seasons due to personal reasons. Shiva helped me sail through this period. So it was obvious to offer my tribute to his endurance and power in my comeback show,” she told Born of Web over the phone from Kolkata.

Her collection, Mrityunjay, is a culmination of her personal journey as a designer. Atoms & molecules are woven together to form new life – life which is a waste without creativity.
Mrityunjay is Lord Shiva’s avatar – the conqueror of death. So symbols of Shiva like the trishul, conch shell, cannabis leaf have been incorporated in the prints & embroidery of the pieces. Her collection questions the notion of formal – casual and seamlessly blends the same in stride.
She has incorporated casual and sportswear detailing in formal clothing, highlighting the hybrid lifestyles we live in. The styling of the collection is also in tow with the same mood.
The colour palette for the collection is a homogeneous mix of snow white, corroded rust, midnight Himalayan blue, ash grey, tones of indigo, Boroline green and various shades of yellow used in solids as well as handwoven stripes combined with ombré effects.

Chandrani’s forte lies in her ability to have a modern perspective while retaining the traditional Indian crafting techniques.
