Priyanka Chopra’s publicity team has informed BornofWeb that the actor is currently seeking legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with Nirav Modia
Diamond merchant Nirav Modi has been accused of a scam worth Rs 11,400 crore by Punjab National Bank. The jeweller has been famous in glamour circuit for his proximity to a lot of fashion designers and film stars, thanks to his sponsorship and endorsement deals with a few of them. As soon as the news of the fraud started circulating, another shocking revelation allegedly came from India’s global actor Priyanka Chopra, who has accused Nirav Modi of not paying her dues for an ad campaign. Chopra was appointed as the brand ambassador of Nirav Modi Jewels amid much pomp and show last year.
According to unverified online reports, the actor maintains that she has cut off ties with Nirav Modi as the diamond czar didn’t pay her the amount “both parties had agreed upon”. “Priyanka Chopra has already cut off ties with Nirav Modi. She and her team had blamed him for non-payments for their endorsement deals,” said a statement from Chopra’s spokesperson, as quoted by India.com.
BornofWeb also contacted Priyanka Chopra’s team for their official response. “There are speculative reports that Priyanka Chopra has sued Nirav Modi. This is not true. However, she is currently seeking legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with the brand in light of allegations of financial fraud against Nirav Modi,” reads the message we received by Chopra’s publicity team in India.
However, as per reports by Times Now, the actress has sued the jeweller. It is interesting to note that Nirav Modi rose to global stardom with even Hollywood actors like Kate Winslet and Dakota Johnson walking the red carpet in his brand’s diamonds.
