Tanira Sethi, daughter of FDCI chief Sunil Sethi, launched her eponymous textile label, Taani by Tanira Sethi, with debut collection of cashmere saris. By Karan Bhardwaj
One would have expected a grand bash with Tanira Sethi, daughter of FDCI chief Sunil Sethi, turning into a textile designer. However, the pretty girl chose to keep it simple and elegant with a display of her debut collection of cashmere saris on racks at Patine, DLF Emporio (Delhi). As expected, ace designers, bureaucrats and fashion influencers thronged the venue to show their support to the young designer. “I’m not going to showcase at the fashion weeks. That’s not my game. I am going to root for Indian textiles off the runway,” said 23-year-old Tanira. At the exhibit, a lot of designers were seen buying Tanira’s saris, cleaning entire racks. “I think it’s a big deal for any young designer when senior colleagues drop in and buy her stuff,” said Sunil Sethi, a proud father.
Mr Sethi told it was Tanira’s idea to keep her first event a low-key affair. “It’s her style. She didn’t want pomp and show. So we invited our friends here only,” he said. Check out Born of Web’s exclusive Vlog with Tanira Sethi here!
